ANNOUNCEMENTS

SUMMER MISSION TRIP TO GALVESTON- SPOTS STILL AVAILABLE
May 24-30, 2009: $150.00
This summer we’re going to help the Diocese of Texas’ operation to clean up damage from Hurricane Ike.  For four days we’ll stay at the William Temple Center (the Student Center for students at UTMB Galveston) doing all kinds of work and then spend the first part of the weekend having fun on the beach.  If you’re interested, come talk to John or Whitney!

BISHOP’S VISIT THIS SUNDAY!!!
In two Sundays Bishop Harrison will be visiting our Sunday night service for Confirmations.  This is kind of a big deal so come out and support the people getting confirmed.  Also, dress nice and don’t embarrass us (haha).  Let’s show her what the Student Center is all about.  Represent so she can recognize.

Are you a senior?  Congrats!  Come to the service this Sunday for a special commemoration and gift.

COOK-OUT!
Wednesday, May 13
6:00 pm at the Student Center
Take a break from studying for dinner at the student center on Wednesday night.  Bring your friends!

Food for Thought: Friends and their Unique Gifts
“No two friends are the same.  Each has his or her own gift for us.  When we expect one friend to have all we need, we will always be hypercritical, never completely happy with what he or she does have.  One friend may offer us affection, another may stimulate our minds, another may strengthen our souls.  The more able we are to receive different gifts our friends have to give us, the more able we will be to offer our own unique but limited gifts.  Thus, friendships create a beautiful tapestry of love.”

-- Henry J. Nouwen, Bread for the Journey
