A journey group is a gathering of a small number of individuals who are looking to embark on an intentional journey together. It’s a time and place set aside for growing in faith and community. Each semester we offer a variety of journey groups for our students.
Join those new to the ESC on a food tour of Austin. Meet at the Student Center every Monday at 7PM. All food is on us.
Share your faith and your struggles in this student-led, supportive small group. Monday nights at 8:30.
Coffee Office Hours
Each Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 PM, Caleb or Fr. Eric are at Pangea Café to buy tea/coffee/cocoa for anyone who stops by. The more, the merrier!
Join us in the chapel each Tuesday at 4:30 PM for sung evening prayer.
This semester, we’re doing a straight-up, misison-focused Bible study on the Book of Acts. Dinner at 6, Compline at 8.
Join us for this ancient Christian practice of prayerful meditation. Every Thursday from 5:00-5:30 PM.
A time for those who are graduating soon to talk about transition, vocation, and discernment. Meet at the ESC each Thursday at 6:00. (Time is subject to change).
A group for the women of the ESC to grow closer socially and spiritually. Each Thursday at 7:30 PM.
In the midst of forming. Meeting time TBD. If interested, let Caleb know: firstname.lastname@example.org
Get to know other ESC newcomers in this informal group that has dinner each week around campus. Meet at the ESC each Monday at 7. Dinner's always on us. For more information, contact Amy or Cassie:
Centering Prayer draws upon ancient Christian practices of prayerful meditation. When we pray, we often focus on speaking to God. While this is important, it is even more important to spend time listening to God. It's hard to do that when our heads are always overflowing with thoughts and worries. Through the practice of centering prayer, we make room for God's voice to be heard in our lives.
Join us Mondays at 4:30 in the Chapel, starting September 11th.
Coffee Office Hours (not technically a journey group)
Members of the community gather each Tuesday from 2:30-4:30 at the SAC Starbucks. Fr. Eric or Caleb will be there to buy everybody coffee and join in on the conversation. Stop by and bring a friend!
This is a small group where we plan to have discussions that are open to any perspective and where people feel they can be honest in their opinions. We will start out looking at the Bible and Science and how they relate but will move on to other topics that the group finds interesting as the semester progresses. We will be meeting on Tuesdays at 7PM at the ESC.
Testimony/God Story Sharing Time
"Our small group will be meeting Mondays at 8:15pm at the ESC. We will take turns sharing personal testimonies of faith and stories of where we have seen God in our lives. We would love to see new faces and old faces as well! Everyone has a story and we can't wait to hear them all!" -Miranda
Our first Omega topic of the year will be "Out of the whirlwind: Where do we find God (and ourselves) in a Hurricane?" We will explore the problem of Evil, God, and the Church in the midst of natural disaster and tragedy.
Dinner begins at six, followed by study. We close with Compline (night prayer) at 7:45.
