Hippo Reading Group FAQ

What is the purpose of the group?

To try and dive a little deeper to some more complex and fundamental Christian texts that are not the Bible, starting with St. Augustine's Confessions.

Can I come join?

Yes! Please join us at 8:00 pm in the ESC on Tuesday, September 13th. Even if you don't make it this week we will meet every week and you can join in as soon as you can make it.

Why Confessions?

It's a really beautiful text that deals with very personal experiences of religious questioning, spiritual reckoning, and total conversion while also providing an introduction to a variety of theological topics that are still relevant to day.

Do I need to buy a book?

No, books will be provided.

How much will I need to read?

220 pages over the semester, about 20 pages a week. It really shouldn't take more than an hour or so of reading per week.

Why is it called the Hippo Reading Group?

1) We hope to study the large impact of mammals.

2) Augustine is often associated the region of modern day Algeria known as Hippo Reggius.
