Centering Prayer

Centering Prayer draws upon ancient Christian practices of prayerful meditation. When we pray, we often focus on speaking to God. While this is important, it is even more important to spend time listening to God. It's hard to do that when our heads are always overflowing with thoughts and worries. Through the practice of centering prayer, we make room for God's voice to be heard in our lives.

Join us Mondays at 4:30 in the Chapel.

Testimony Group

Our small group will be meeting Mondays at 8pm at the ESC. We will take turns sharing personal testimonies of faith and stories of where we have seen God in our lives. We would love to see new faces and old faces as well! Reach out to me, Miranda Tubilla (210-244-3288) or Caleb if you are interesting in joining. Everyone has a story and we can't wait to hear them all!

Open Dialogs

This is a small group where we plan to have discussions that are open to any perspective and where people feel they can be honest in their opinions. We will start out looking at the Bible and Science and how they relate, but as the semester progresses, we'll move on to other topics. We will be meeting on Tuesdays at 7PM at the ESC.

Front Porch Easter Vigil

from The Front Porch's website

The most magical evening of the year on the Front Porch is soon approaching. On the eve of Easter, we’ll once again convene in the public square (the biergarten at Scholz) for our annual Front Porch Easter Vigil. Featuring a first-rate lineup of local artists– folks like slam poet Chucky Black, songwriter Sam Baker, and dozens of others–and local leaders of numerous faith traditions, the Easter Vigil seeks to bring folks together across their divides to celebrate the magic and mystery of life and death. The evening’s liturgy will feature both traditional and radically innovative elements in order to create a ceremony unlike any other for the greater Austin community to enjoy and cherish, regardless of background or creed. Join us for a truly incredible evening that only comes once a year–all building up to the closing act, BODY ROCK ATX (RIDERS AGAINST THE STORM + DJ CHORIZO FUNK), who will lead our dance party immediately following open table communion with cheese, wine, pretzels, and other Scholz goodies.

We will also celebrate the baptism of two of our members!

Check out this video of the last year’s gathering to get an idea of what’s in store this time around. The gathering starts promptly at sunset (7:52 PM), and there is no admission fee, although we will ask for a suggested donation of $10 per adult participant.
