Donate to our Episcopal Student Center Annual Fund: Growing for Tomorrow today!
Dear Faithful Supporter of the Student Center,
It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since we gathered for a marvelous celebration of 115 years of ministry at the Episcopal Student Center in Austin. Because of your emotional and financial support, the community has had its best year in recent memory. Current students have continued to explore the pictures, retell stories they learned from graduates, and wonder how they might continue the legacy that has been gifted them in this community.
We also traveled on pilgrimage to England, allowing our first class of students to benefit from the $118,000 in scholarship funds raised during our celebrations. In other words, the larger Student Center community, of which you are a part, continues to empower us to do the work of transforming lives that has been done in this place for so many decades.
Our goal for this year’s Annual Fund is to replenish the $10,000 spent on the cost of trips in 2015. Every donation, each individual who participates, honors those who have come before us and provides hope for those who occupy our sanctuary today.
Our goal is to spend 10% of the available principle on the cost of scholarships for student participation in trips, retreats, and pilgrimages on a yearly basis. To ensure that this work continues as long as students populate campus, this is the beginning of an annual campaign to sustain the funds available for scholarships. You are invited to be a partner with us in this work of providing opportunities for transformation for today’s students and tomorrow’s parishioners.
As many of you know, Diocesan funding covers the cost of employing two staff members, keeping our physical space livable, and the daily cost of operating the ministry. The Annual Fund will bridge the gap that remains, making immersion experiences a reality in hopes of crystallizing the work we do day in and day out. All money raised in the Annual Fund will go directly into the scholarship fund: Growing for Tomorrow.
I began working with my fifth class of incoming students this fall. I never could have imagined transformative power of this legacy. There’s no subtle way to talk about spiritual growth that unfolds before your eyes. I’m hopeful that the attached excerpts from student reflections will give you a glimpse into that which is blooming. We are truly building a future for our church that’s going to change the world. You are an integral part of this work. Thank you in advance for prayerfully participating in this work of Gospel transformation!
Blessings & Hook ‘Em,
The Rev. Beth Magill
