Students have come here

to find a community

committed to feeding

body, mind, and spirit

for 125 years

In 1899, Bishop George Kinsolving started a chaplaincy for the women’s dormitories on the boundary of the Forty Acres. We’ve been here ever since.

Today, we’re a group of regular people helping each other remember that God made each of us just as we are and is waiting to be found in all the ordinary stuff of our lives. Through trusting in Jesus Christ and following his way, we find the love, strength, and mercy we need to get through the challenges of our lives together.

Every week during the school year we gather to pray, share meals, and have fun with each other. We’d love for you to find a place with us, especially if you think the church doesn’t have a place for you.

We are located on the north edge of the UT Austin campus at 27th Street and University Avenue, across from the Scottish Rite Dormitory.

Our values

  • We make an intentional, focused effort to invite and welcome others exactly as they are. We seek to communicate in word and action that every person we encounter is worthy of God’s love, acceptance, and belonging.

  • We work to create a deep sense of community and a safe place to be, where all feel loved, accepted, and that they belong.

  • We believe in the importance of experiencing God’s love, rather than focusing simply on having the "right ideas" about God.

  • We encourage honest, open exploration of questions that matter, and we acknowledge that we are all learning together. We work to create an environment in which students feel comfortable and safe enough to engage in courageous, open-hearted conversations.

We’re proud to be an affirming and safe space for LGBTQ+ people—God made you just the way you are and we give thanks for that! We welcome LGBTQ+ people into full participation with us, including leadership positions. We know Christians frequently get it wrong on this one so we go out of our way to be better.

To make room in our community for everyone, in our worship we use inclusive language for humanity and try to use a variety of words and imagery for God alongside more traditional language. We have a gender-neutral restroom in our space.

Everyone is welcome to join us, no matter who you are or where you are on your spiritual journey. Really.
